EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

EUDR (EU Zero-Deforestation Regulation) compliance involves detailed breakdowns across the entire supply chain. This issue focuses on high-frequency pain points related to "plot traceability," with 5 FAQs directly addressing core concerns such as "plot positioning" and "due diligence."

1. Is there an area limit for the polygon used in plot mapping?

There is no fixed size requirement.
As long as the plot can accurately define the production area and meet sufficiently uniform conditions, it will satisfy the need to assess the risk level of deforestation and forest degradation during the production of relevant products on that plot.
Reminder: The DDS file uploaded to the information system must not exceed 25Mb.

‌2. Do all plots require polygon location marking?

No! There are two exceptions:
- For plots with an area of less than 4 hectares, marking their geographical location with a single latitude and longitude coordinate is sufficient to meet the requirements.
- For cattle-related products (e.g., beef, leather), only a single geographical location point of the breeding facility needs to be provided.

3. Can operators use geographical location data provided by producers?

Yes, but the responsibility lies with the operator.
Even if the data is provided by the producer, the operator must bear ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of the data.

‌‌4. Should operators verify geographical locations?

Verification is mandatory! And supporting documents must be provided.
Ensuring the authenticity and accuracy of geographical location information is a key responsibility that operators must fulfill. Providing incorrect coordinates by operators is directly regarded as a violation, which may lead to risks of fines or market bans.

‌‌5. Do products from the same plot require repeated due diligence?

Yes! Each time products are placed on the EU market, the due diligence (DDS) must be updated and the location information completed.
However, there is no need to start from scratch—simply reference the previous DDS and indicate that the upstream due diligence has been completed.

The final EU CBAM transition period reporting window is closing, the last drill before "taxation and compliance" phase; transition needs quarterly reports without payment, full phase requires carbon tariffs with reduced free allowances, dual responsibilities, mandatory verification, stricter penalties; enterprises confirm 6 products, strengthen data traceability, cooperate with EU importers.

CBAM

The core of EUDR compliance is establishing a low-cost and confidential evidence system, following the data minimization principle. It requires providing necessary data around three core issues, clarifying data boundaries and transmission norms, and avoiding compliance and confidentiality misunderstandings.
